15:12:58 From Peter Wasilko :
15:13:34 From Fabien : https://dynamicland.org/ for the Oakland video projector and Color dot based
15:14:41 From Frode Hegland : The Egyptian Museum document: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wx52ba8ynl9wazz/Grand%20Egyptian%20Museum%20inital%20thoughts%20Sunday%20.pdf?dl=0
15:16:30 From Frode Hegland : Self describing in a way-text
15:16:41 From Frode Hegland : Rather than an image or object which needs tags
15:16:45 From Frode Hegland : An aspect
15:24:07 From Peter Wasilko : Raw text v. Augmented text
15:39:49 From Frode Hegland : What is a museum. This is a specific part of general knowledge work I think. Case study.
15:46:56 From Frode Hegland : Chris, you are coming to London this week. Or I am coming down to Southampton!
15:50:10 From Frode Hegland : Adam, list you in the ‘Statement of Intent for the Future Text Lab’ document that I sent?
15:50:42 From Frode Hegland : Peter, Chris, Alan?
15:53:59 From Adam Wern : Prefer not to be listed I think
15:54:12 From Peter Wasilko : Yes on being listed.
15:54:21 From Frode Hegland : Ok
16:00:34 From Rafael Nepô : Has this started 1 hour ago?
16:00:36 From Frode Hegland : Rafael, we are on US time so started an hour ago 🙂
16:00:38 From Peter Wasilko : I think we should bill core group participants as “Senior Researchers” with the Lab.
16:00:39 From Rafael Nepô : omg
16:00:39 From Frode Hegland : No problem 🙂
16:00:49 From Rafael Nepô : Well, that sucks 🙁
16:00:57 From Rafael Nepô : But better at noon 😄
16:01:02 From Frode Hegland : Talking about Egyptian Museum possible VR project. Did you see the document?
16:01:48 From Frode Hegland : Rafael, list you in the document about the group?
16:02:45 From Frode Hegland : Exactly, that is what this is! 🙂 entry way is Egypt
16:03:06 From Fabien : Brandel Wikipedia VR timeline was pretty good on that
16:03:39 From Rafael Nepô : Im interested in everything to do with Libraries and Museums, so count me in. 🙂
16:04:43 From Frode Hegland : Exactly, what would we offer not just a game?
16:05:28 From Peter Wasilko : UI Wise I think we could get a lot of milage out of having a Command Line Interface in the VR Environment as an alternative to dream up gestures and having to infer them for a controller event input stream. It might be much faster to use a Domain Specific Language to just tell the system what we want to see. (e.g. Show me the travel history of this artifact from its discover through 1950.)
16:05:52 From Peter Wasilko : dreaming up 16:08:51 From Peter Wasilko : See Neal Stephenson’s “In The Beginning… Was The Command Line” ISBN: 0-380-81593-1 16:09:18 From Christopher Gutteridge : now there’s a book I read. 16:09:55 From Fabien : Research based data-driven VR game design? 16:12:02 From Peter Wasilko : Virtual Gloss Translation of Hieroglyphs! 16:14:10 From Peter Wasilko : Back up one slide 16:14:34 From Peter Wasilko : The code one 16:16:27 From Christopher Gutteridge : so hypercard? 16:22:43 From Peter Wasilko : Quill also bears study: https://quilljs.com/ 16:23:22 From Rafael Nepô : 100% Web-based for sure 16:24:38 From Peter Wasilko : https://quilljs.com/guides/designing-the-delta-format/ 16:29:16 From Frode Hegland : Document in and out. 16:31:59 From Peter Wasilko : My favorite polar novella: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/At_the_Mountains_of_Madness/full 16:35:16 From Frode Hegland : Stop fantasising and start dreaming! Then building! 16:36:53 From Peter Wasilko : NB. The Command Line in VR could be exposed via Speech Recognition. 16:38:45 From Peter Wasilko : As in STNG’s audio Holodeck controls. 16:39:07 From Rafael Nepô : VR 1995 – https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.slashgear.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2015%2F02%2Fviewmaster23423.jpg&f=1&nofb=1 16:39:21 From Rafael Nepô : 1935
16:39:28 From Rafael Nepô : 1939* hahha
16:40:05 From Alan : Have to jump. See y’all.
16:51:00 From Frode Hegland : Adam, Im going to ask you for comments next…
16:53:32 From Peter Wasilko : VS Bibliometric Visualizations
16:54:49 From Frode Hegland : Murals but not argument mapping is in Egypt I think
16:58:40 From Peter Wasilko : We also need to address giant killer space rocks, lest we go the way of the Dinosaurs!
16:59:18 From Peter Wasilko : That would give us less time to react that climatic shifts.
17:00:23 From Frode Hegland : I think the most important mission is to raise the expectation of what it can be to work in VR/AR.
