Requests / Smaller Issues

  • ACM: Refine the Mana Menu. The menu words (i.e., keyboard) are too large and extend beyond the fingers. This caused the testers to get confused, especially when trying to read the article and extract content. The keyboard toggling also made it difficult for testers to evoke the keyboard. This problem could be solved if we added feedback to the action of touching the finger. We should also implement the Save command or eliminate it from the menu
  • Frode: Mana Menu. Suggestions as described in the Knowledge Sculpture document.
  • ACM: Output from the keyboard. The text that is evoked when typing on the keyboard should be more visually evident—that is, moved from its present location on the left-hand side of the keyboard to somewhere in front of the user.
  • ACM: More robust exit to receive JSON and other info.
  • ACM: Resituate the location for selecting cards. The location of the blue dot on the left-hand side of the cards made it very awkward for our testers to select the card they wished to access. For right handed users, the blue dot should be on the right side of the card, and for left-handed users, it should be on the left.

  • ACM: Improve the gesture detection. A problem of successfully achieving simple press, and particularly pinch, gestures, indicates a systemic challenge. The fact that a very few testers encountered few gesture failures suggests experience may play a part and the ‘failures’ are gestural mis-detection. Even experienced users seemed to encounter some failure. This is consistent. Generally, tester presumed an error on their own part (c.f. a general user) when a gestural input failed.
  • ACM: Add feedback. All activity taking place in the Knowledge Space should register feedback, whether through an ambient sound and/or visual element (i.e., glow, pulse). This guideline is especially important with interacting with text.
  • Frode: Move the [] cursor further away or have it spawn on request.
  • Frode: Pinch interactions to twist less, to test. Also make hand when pinching more transparent, or less polygons.
  • Frode: Change default background color for builds going forward to and use this image as the ground, no longer polygon

Major Interactions

  • Frode: Make it possible to export a configuration JSON of items in XR to be embedded as an appendix in a PDF, then expanded when user interacts with the embedded JSON. This should included plain text, plain text with description revealed on interaction and citations.
