The January Project is a discussion around a concrete project to provide a single letter in XR based on the metadata in a PDF, using Visual-Meta, to demonstrate some of the potential of working in XR, using Author & Reader for the Apple Vision Pro. The software used for this project is not open source at this point though the goal is to develop open methods and formats for this type of work.
As Barbara Tversky pointed out, XR is a new set of capabilities where we are looking to figure out what is possible, within the notion of knowledge work. It’s more like we are artists learning a new medium to see what the capabilities can be than we are technologists and sociologists looking to improve academic and general knowledge work in general. That is something else.
