Dene Grigar

Dene Grigar, Professor at Washington State University Vancouver, creates, curates, preserves, and conserves born-digital media.

She serves as the Managing Director & Curator of The NEXT and directs the Electronic Literature Lab as well as Creative Media & Culture in the Department of Digital Technology and Culture.

She has produced 16 media works, 76 scholarly articles, and 10 books and has curated exhibitions at the Bibliotheca Hertziana––Max Planck Institute for Art History, British Computer Society, the Library of Congress, and for the International Symposium on Electronic Art, among other venues.

Her recent book, Challenges of Born-Digital Literature: Editions, Translations, and Emulations (2024) co-authored with Mariusz Pisarski for Cambridge University Press, examines activities, approaches, and strategies underlying the preservation of born-digital literature.

She was honored in 2024 by the Electronic Literature Organization with The Marjorie C. Luesebrink Career Achievement Award. She will be giving a TedxTalk in March 2025.
