Despite being a longtime web user, telescopic text is one of these things I’ve recently discovered ❤️
Try clicking the blue-lined words below:
In fact, it was
Brandel
Zachernuk, a very talented creative technologist & conversationalist,
who showed me telescopictext.org while waiting for
Frode
Hegland, who was at the 50th Anniversary of Internet accompanied by very epic computer
scientists
like Alan Kay and Vint Cerf
, during a Future Of Text
videocall
, which happens weekly and can be followed here
.
Needless to say, I was
baffled.
How could I have missed this cute way of compressing text?
My friend Matt wonderfully
described telescopic text
as: “Every desire for further enquiry by a physical action. Self authorship of the experience”
.
Finally, this is the
little brother
of the jump-link (the HTML anchor tag),
I’ve always hoped for.
Anyways, I could not
help myself.
So I’ve tried re-creating a CSS-only version.
Eventually I’ve came up with several telescopic text-variations as
code
, in the form of this codepen
available to anyone ❤️.
