5 March (dev)

This meeting focused primarily on the design and interaction aspects of the “cube” knowledge object, with discussions about how to visualize and interact with citations and annotations. The participants conceptualized how users could place citations onto the cube, view them from different sides, and unfold the cube to view multiple texts side by side. Fabien Benetou committed to developing a prototype without animations but with references and links between different phases. Mark Anderson contributed insights about JSON schemas for bibliographic data and considerations for representing books in the spatial environment. Dene Grigar practiced her presentation script for an upcoming event about using VR for experiencing digital artifacts and museum collections, which received positive feedback from the group.

The cube will be designed to allow citations to be placed on it and reordered. Different sides of the cube will display different information (e.g., one side for list of citations). The team will focus on optimizing design for authoring and reading annotated bibliographies. Future sessions will be split to focus on the cube and the environment separately. Fabien will develop a prototype of the cube focusing on references and links between different phases rather than animations. The listing and record pages will be combined so that clicking on an event takes users directly to the record of it. Focus will be placed on how to integrate bibliographic data cleanly between systems.
